General

What is Rambler?

Rambler is an independent project by me (John Roa) to allow "real" travelers to share experiences with other travelers in a fun way.

Why was it created?

Rambler was created to give "real" travelers a way to find the coolest things to do that you'd never find in a guide book. It's designed to be curated and updated by travelers, bringing experiences from around the world together in real-time. Want the full story? Read it here!

How can I help?

Nothing is more important than a passionate user base and great quests. So, the best thing you can do is share Rambler with your traveler friends and continue to add great quests and photos as you come across places you want to share out there in the world.

Is Rambler free?

100%. You will never, ever pay or have to do anything else to use Rambler.

Quests

What is a quest?

A quest is like a scavenger hunt item. The criteria for a quest are pretty simple: fun, repeatable, interesting and can be photographed.

How are points determined?

When a quest is submitted, the submitter assigns a difficulty between 1-10. A Rambler moderater takes this in to account, plus the story / objective, and determines a point score between 1-100. Points may be changed if a quest is determined to be easier or harder than originally thought. If this happens, everyone who has completed will be giving the adjusted amount of points.

I submitted a quest and it did not get approved - why?

There are a number of possible reasons:

  1. Your quest was inappropriate, dangerous, too "touristy" or already existed
  2. You did not submit a high-quality photo
  3. You did not include a story

Can I resubmit a quest that did not get approved?

Sure, but you obviously must fix whatever was wrong!
